While at the Wyss Institute, I became involved with PhD candidate Jack Lindsay's academic project to grow and stain Human enteroendocrine cells derived from their respective stem cells. Once the enteroendocrine cells were derived, I continued to grow and monitor then while performing trypsinization and media changes, when necessary. I then used cell fixation and staining to analyze their protein structure. Thereafter, pictures were taken using an immunoflourescence microscope. Since I did not have much experience with this type of procedure beforehand, I practiced on STC-1 cells several times before I worked with the actual cells for the project.
